      Sometimes you need raw data for advanced analysis, internal reporting, or to share with stakeholders outside Emitwise. This guide shows how to export your emissions dataset—be it for a specific time frame, scope, or facility.

      Step-by-Step Guide

      1. Open the Download Menu

        • Go to Analyse > Emissions Overview (or your current dashboard).
        • Locate the Download button in the toolbar (the downward arrow icon).

      2. Apply Filters First (Optional)

        • If you only want data for certain suppliers or facilities, set those filters before clicking Download.
        • The export will match whatever view or filters are active on your dashboard.

      3. Specify Units and Scope

        • The modal lets you choose between kg CO₂e and ton CO₂e.
        • Confirm which unit best fits your reporting needs.

      4. Click “Download”

        • Emitwise begins generating your CSV file.
        • Larger datasets might take a moment—wait for the prompt that it’s ready to save or automatically starts downloading.

          Column name Description
          id a unique identifier of the activity, generated by Emitwise
          filename name of the processed file
          start_date date provided by the customer
          end_date date provided by the customer
          source_value value provided by the customer
          source_unit unit provided by the customer
          converted_value converted value of the activity by the Emitwise software, to standardise all purchases to the same currency
          converted_unit standardised system unit for the system for this activity type. spend is converted to a standard currency and year to address inflation
          spend_category customer categorisation of the purchase. only present for purchased goods and services
          supplier customer description of the supplier / vendor
          product_description customer description of the purchase. only present for purchased goods and services
          classified_product Emitwise classification of the product involved in the activity
          isic ISIC code selected for classification where relevant
          emission_factor_name name of the emission factor used
          emission_factor_publisher publisher of the emission factor database
          emission_factor_version version of the emission factor database used
          emission_factor_country country of the emission factor used
          emissions_value value of the emissions calculated
          emissions_unit unit of the emissions calculated
          ghg_scope GHG protocol scope the emission has been allocated to
          ghg_category GHG protocol category the emission has been allocated to
          facility customer facility tagged to the activity
          any custom breakdown additional columns for every custom breakdown provided by the customer

      • Tip: If your dataset is huge, consider breaking it down by smaller time frames or scopes to keep files manageable.
      • Pitfall: Exporting without applying filters might give you a very large file, making it harder to find relevant insights.
