We know data collection can be tedious. Integrating your systems with Emitwise allows you to automate data flow, eliminating manual entry and reducing the risk of errors. Integrations save your team time and effort.
Set them up once and then you won't have to worry about data collection anymore!
How to
If you are interested in integrations, we recommend setting a call with your IT team to discuss the options together and review the data in question.
Options available
#1 - Snowflake database integration
This option is preferred if your data is centralised in a Snowflake database.
- First, we have a meeting to review your data schema and make sure you have all the data we need to calculate emissions
- Your team creates a special view/table in Snowflake with the data we need
- Then, we provide you with our Snowflake account details (we can share either Azure US East2 or AWS EU West1)
- Your team creates a “data share” and share their Snowflake data with our Snowflake account. This should take them ~1 day max.
- We accept the data share and we can now see your data in our Snowflake database
- We verify that we can see the data correctly

Example: one of our biggest clients has set up a Snowflake integration between their database and Emitwise to pull their procurement listing every month and automatically calculate their Scope 3 emissions.
#2 - API integration
This option works with any system or database.
- We have a meeting to review your data schema and make sure you have all the data we need to calculate emissions
- We provide your team access to generate authentication keys
- Your IT team creates a simple backend service to pull data from your system, transform it to our schema, and call the API to send the data to us. This should take them < 1 week.
- The data is automatically processed and emissions are instantly calculated and visible in your Analyse page

#3 - SFTP integration
This option works with any system and is easier to setup than an API. Here’s how it works:
- We have a meeting to review your data schema and make sure you have all the data we need to calculate emissions
- We set up an SFTP server: we can either use yours or create one for you
- Your IT team sets up a flow to automatically and periodically extract data from your systems into a .csv file and upload it to the SFTP server
- We automatically pick up the refreshed file and ingest it into our systems
Example: one of our client has set up an SFTP integration to automatically export waste and water data from their SAP on-premise system every month.
#4 - Utilities integration
This option works with any utility provider. It is done via our partner Nectar and comes at additional cost. Here’s how it works:
- You have a meeting with the Nectar team to review your energy providers
- You share your authentication details with Nectar
- They login on your behalf to utility provider accounts, and gather the relevant data
- They login on your behalf to your Emitwise account and submit the data
Example: one of our client uses Nectar to collect utilities data for them.
