Resolving data quality issues for PCFs

This guide explains how to resolve data quality issues impacting your Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).

Introduction

If there’s a problem with your Product Carbon Footprint data—maybe a missing BOM entry or a mismatch in your manufacturing utilities—Emitwise will email you specific details. Each PCF with issues is highlighted, and the email explains why it’s flagged and how to correct it.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Check the Email from Emitwise

    • It will detail which product failed the data quality check, what caused the issue, and steps to fix it.
    • In the example below, the name of the product needs to be changed. In addition, the emissions are significantly higher than the benchmark, indicating that the Bill of Materials (BOM) ingested may have been incorrect.

  2. Edit the Data

    • Go to Profile > Product Carbon Footprint, edit the flagged product, and update the relevant fields (e.g., BOM, utilities data, facility information).

By following the instructions in the email, you’ll correct any errors in your PCF. A clean data set ensures more accurate product-level emissions, which is vital for building trust with customers and stakeholders.
