What Data Does Emitwise Collect from Suppliers?

Understanding the types of data collected for emissions reporting, product carbon footprints, and sustainability goals.

General Data Collected from All Users

  • Company Details: Includes company name, sector, region, website, and financial year information. This helps Emitwise tailor reporting and align with industry-specific emissions factors and fiscal timelines.
  • User Details: Information about the primary users within your company (name, email, job title, phone number, role), ensuring the right contacts receive updates and support.

Data Collected Depending on Request Type

  1. Corporate Emissions Intensity Submission

    • Scope 1, 2, and 3 Emissions Data: Users must provide emissions data across all three scopes. This includes direct emissions (Scope 1), emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and value chain emissions (Scope 3).
    • Revenue: Company revenue data is collected to calculate emissions intensity, showing the ratio of emissions to revenue for tracking environmental performance.
    • Sustainability Reports: If available, these are used to verify the accuracy of submitted emissions data.
  2. Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Data Collection

    • Product-Specific Data: Product name, unique ID, emissions intensity, declared unit, product mass, and transportation emissions. This data helps calculate the carbon footprint of individual products, which can be shared with customers to support transparency.
  3. Decarbonization Targets

    • Target Setting Data: Users provide information on whether they are setting a new target or updating an existing one. They also submit details on the baseline year, target year, and the total percentage reduction they aim to achieve.
    • Target Ambition and Method: The ambition level (e.g., 1.5°C or Net Zero targets) and method used (absolute or intensity-based reduction) must be provided, aligned with Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) criteria.
  4. Emission Reduction Initiatives

    • Initiative Information: Users describe their emissions reduction projects, including the initiative name, description, start date, and status. They also specify which GHG scope (1, 2, or 3) and emission categories are impacted.
  5. Supplier Engagement

    • Engagement Program Data: For companies engaging suppliers to reduce Scope 3 emissions, data such as the number of suppliers involved, percentage of Scope 3 emissions addressed, and the availability of tools to support suppliers is collected. This data supports assessing the effectiveness of supplier engagement and progress toward Emitwise’s Gold Level.

Each request type tailors data collection based on specific sustainability goals of your customer, whether it’s tracking emissions, setting reduction targets, or engaging suppliers.
